Record Snowstorm in Big D Takes Out the Juice

February 14, 2010 by Erich Scholz

A snowstorm dumped over a foot of snow on Dallas this past week. The picture on the right was taken this past Thursday morning. More snow was coming but I ended up at work that day and the photo only captured a little bit of the snow. Unfortunately all that white stuff felled tree branches across the city which then came into contact with power lines and transformers. I believe 200,000 homes were without power…including ours! We didn’t have electricity for over 48 hours, that included two cold, cold nights. We made the most of it and built a fire and sang songs on the guitar but with the temp hovering around 45 degrees F inside, it was a bit uncomfortable. The power finally came on Saturday afternoon. I was so happy I took Holly out for sushi!
