To travel to the ancient ruins of Teotihuacan, we had to take the the number 5 metro line to the very northern-most part of DF and buy tickets aboard a bus that would travel the 25 mile distance to the site. Unfortunately, the metro was under construction and we were forced to leave the station…
Mexico City Part 2
For our second day in Mexico City, we decided to take the metro to the southern-most part of the city. The voyage involved a transfer to the overground Tren Ligero to visit Xochimilco, the ancient canal and chinampa system that allegedly gives a taste of what life was like in the Pre-Hispanic era. When people…
Mexico City Part 1
Mexico City is one of the world’s misunderstood places. The sprawling metropolis, home from anywhere to 12 to 25 million people — depending on who you ask — has a bad rep thanks to its smog, crime and squalor. But after spending a week around the DF (Mexico City is, like our own Washington, DC,…
Diving the Flower Gardens
After meeting Gordon Gibson at his Cedar Hill home on Friday morning, we made our way to Austin to pick up Layne Hedrick, a diving veteran and instructor with many Flower Garden trips under his belt. Layne was also certifying me for nitrox on this trip. We drove into East Texas and down to Freeport,…
Los Bravos
Heads up to the WFMU blog for turning me onto some really cool video clips of the Franco-era, Spanish group Los Bravos. I’m Back
Got back from the Flower Gardens National Sanctuary in the Gulf of Mexico. Now I’m at work. I will post pictures and a detailed report as soon as I get my act together. It was pretty cool. UPDATE: Layne Hedrick sent in some pretty amazing photos from our trip. The ones to the right was…
Updating Systems
Had a rare four day weekend…actually it’s not that rare, I have another one this coming weekend ha ha! On a trip to Fry’s to pick up some dual layered DVD+Rs, I also decided to pick up a small, portable hard drive for the laptop. Spent a part of yesterday transferring nearly 30 gigs worth…
Lightning Strikes
It’s been raining so much out here. I think we’ve had, maybe, three days without rain in the past two months. Took some time out to sit on my porch with a camera and just take pictures. It’s probably totally lame, but I did catch lightning striking twice…and I have the photos to prove it!
The Holy Mountain
I received the Films of Alejandro Jodorowsky DVD set last week but put it away since it came the day before I left for a scuba trip to Austin. The reviews have been favorable and I was mildly amazed to see that DeepDiscount.com lists the set as their number-one best-selling DVD! Finally got around to…
